Welcome to my shrine dedicated to Junji Ito, my favorate horror atist.
Ito's work is probably some of the most recognizable horror manga ever made. His stories take completely normal things, like spirals, balloons, fish, etc, and turns them into the worst things ever.
This page is dedicated to his art, stories, characters, and all the horrible things his brain has produced.
BORN: July 31, 1963
FROM: Gifu Prefecture, Japan
OCCUPATION: Manga artist
GENRE: Horror / supernatural / cosmic horror
I have always liked horror, and comics. So Ito is the best of both worlds. Stephen King is... Not someone I like. He is a good writer, but the way he describes women just puts me off his work fully. And, Ito has drawings in his work!
I love how normal Ito's stories can seem at first. A lot of them start with something small or strange and then keep getting worse until everything has completely spiraled out of control. (pun intended)

Before becoming a full-time manga artist, Ito worked as a dental technician.
He began drawing manga when he was young, influenced by horror manga he read growing up.
Despite creating absolutely horrifying artwork, Junji Ito has a reputation for being a pretty cheerful guy.
Never read Junji Ito before? Here is my extremely scientific guide:
Want the classic?
→ UzumakiProbably the most obvious place to start. Long, weird, gross, and VERY spiral-y.
Want a short story?
→ The Enigma of Amigara FaultShort enough to read quickly and memorable enough to haunt you afterward.
Want a recurring character?
→ TomieBeautiful girl. Immortal. Terrible things happen. Nobody learns anything. Repeat.
Want something completely insane?
→ GyoFish. With legs. That's all I'm telling you.
I have a lot of his books.
