LAREINE is one of a handful of bands Kamijo partook in, formed in 1994, after he left MALICE MIZER (as a raodie).
The music, the rose theming, the aristocratic styling, the elaborate costumes, and all of the romantic imagery, make it stand out more to me than his other projects.
This page is not meant to be a complete archive. It is mostly here because I like LAREINE and wanted somewhere to collect pictures, music, outfits, and whatever else I feel like adding.
He gets his own section.
KAMIJO is a Japanese vocalist best known for his work in the visual kei scene. Before LAREINE, KAMIJO worked as a roadie for MALICE MIZER, putting him directly around Mana and the band during his earliest years in visual kei. KAMIJO has spoken very fondly of Mana, saying that he learned under him and has watched his career for decades. He has also credited MALICE MIZER and Mana with helping awaken the European aesthetic he eventually developed for himself. Their relationship continued long after those early days, as they've collaborated, performed together, and more. KAMIJO has described Mana as someone he deeply respects.
He began his career in the 1990s and became the vocalist of LAREINE, a band famous for its romantic, French-inspired aesthetic, elaborate costumes, and dramatic music. After LAREINE, he formed Versailles in 2007, continuing the aristocratic style on a much grander, heavier scale. He later began a solo career, where he has continued to mix rock, metal, classical influences, and his love of European history and royalty. Across his career, KAMIJO has become especially recognizable for his theatrical performances, extravagant fashion, and extremely committed vampire-esque looks.
