Ancient warriors awaken
Decades after Jonathan Joestar's battle with Dio, his grandson Joseph is drawn into a conflict involving ancient beings, Hamon warriors, Nazi experiments, and the mysterious Red Stone of Aja.
BEGIN THE BATTLE ↓Nearly fifty years after the events of Phantom Blood, Joseph Joestar lives in New York with his grandmother Erina.
Unlike Jonathan, Joseph is loud, impulsive, dishonest, and fond of provoking his enemies. Beneath that chaotic personality, however, he possesses courage, loyalty, and natural Hamon ability.
Joseph becomes involved in the supernatural after learning that Robert E. O. Speedwagon has disappeared while investigating ancient ruins in Mexico.
In a secret laboratory, German soldiers experiment on an ancient humanoid discovered inside a stone pillar.
The being, later called Santana, is incredibly intelligent and able to absorb living creatures into his body.
Joseph confronts Santana using Hamon, and trickery. Although Santana is defeated, he is only one member of an ancient race.
Deep beneath Rome, three more ancient beings awaken: Wamuu, Esidisi, and Kars.
The Pillar Men created the Stone Masks and seek the Red Stone of Aja. With it, they hope to overcome their weakness to sunlight and become perfect lifeforms.
Wamuu and Esidisi implant deadly rings inside Joseph's body, forcing him to defeat them within thirty-three days or die from their poison.
Joseph and Caesar travel to Venice to train under Lisa Lisa, a powerful Hamon master and guardian of the Red Stone of Aja.
She subjects them to severe breathing exercises and dangerous tests, forcing them to maintain Hamon constantly while fighting for survival.
Joseph gradually learns to control his natural talent, while Caesar becomes determined to honor the Zeppeli family legacy.
Caesar leaves the group to confront Wamuu alone. He fights using Hamon-filled bubbles, surrounding Wamuu with reflected sunlight.
Although Caesar nearly wins, Wamuu defeats him. In his final moments, Caesar uses the last of his strength to retrieve Wamuu's antidote for Joseph.
His death leaves Joseph devastated but even more determined to defeat the Pillar Men.
Joseph confronts Wamuu in a deadly chariot race, fighting with weapons, Hamon, and constant deception.
Wamuu respects Joseph as a worthy opponent and fights according to his warrior's code.
Joseph ultimately defeats him, but honors Wamuu's courage rather than celebrating his death.
Kars uses the Red Stone of Aja with a modified Stone Mask, transforming himself into the Ultimate Lifeform.
He gains the abilities of every living creature and becomes immune to sunlight and Hamon.
Unable to defeat Kars directly, Joseph survives through instinct, luck, and the eruption of a volcano that sends Kars beyond Earth's atmosphere.
The Red Stone of Aja is a perfect gemstone capable of amplifying light and Hamon energy. Lisa Lisa protects it because it is the key to completing Kars's Stone Mask.
It represents both salvation and catastrophe. The same object that can focus Hamon against the Pillar Men can also grant Kars the power he has pursued for thousands of years.
